GSMA's Selection of LG's Handset for '3G for All' Initiative Will ...

BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- QUALCOMM Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) and the GSM Association (GSMA) today celebrated a milestone in the "3G for All" initiative's handset design competition with the selection of the LG KU250 by a panel of leading network operators. The handset is powered by QUALCOMM's chipset technology to deliver a wide range of advanced wireless features that meet operators' specifications -- at a price point to drive 3G capabilities to a much wider base of users than ever before. The initiative was launched by the GSMA in June of 2006 to help make feature-rich handsets accessible to more consumers in developed and developing countries.

LG KU250 selected as the handset for the 3G for All initiative

Qualcomm and the GSM Association (GSMA) are now celebrating the selection of LG KU250 as their chosen device for the "3G for All" initiative.

This mobile phone is powered by Qualcomm Mobile Station Modem MSM6245 chipset for WCDMA/EDGE/GPRS/GSM handsets.

It is equipped with a range of wireless features that meet operators' specifications at a price point to drive 3G capabilities to a wide base of users.

This mobile phone would now be launched on networks of 12 operators who currently span six continents. The phone features Internet browsing, mobile music and a wide range of other 3G services.

What a great slogan by LG, 3G for All! I wish I could say the same for my fellow in US where 3G are more like 3 Where? But enough about my jealousy of those 3G zoned users. The LG-KU250 will be available from twelve of the largest mobile operators in the world.

The phone will support GSM Tri Band and UMTS under WCDMA network. Sporting 1.76" LCD with 176X220 resolutions, 3G Video Telephony, Dual Camera (1.3Megapixel + VGA), Easy Internet Access up to 386kbps, Audio codecs such as MP3, AAC, AAC+ and WMA, Micro SD Slot, and speaker phone.
