Memory expansion on the KG 920 uses MiniSD

Engineered with a sturdy metallic silver frame that resembles every bit of a thoroughbred consumer digital camera, the KG 920 is literally a 5.0-megapixel camera that comes with phone-like functions. Fitted with a bright 2-inch 240 x 320 pixel QVGA screen, photo previewing is a decent experience – although a larger screen would have been much appreciated, especially for such a powerful camera. Found in a row along its left profile is an array of buttons that although vary in purpose, are mostly suited for the KG 920’s camera functions such as shutter release, zoom, flash (shared with MP3 short cut), timer selection and the odd volume control. On the flip side, we've got a miniSD card slot, dedicated headphone jack and its propriety power input jack. What makes the KG920 unique is how half its body is able to swivel on a hinge so both camera lens and LCD screen can face inwards for self-portraits. Unfortunately, for all its appeal and uniqueness, the KG 920’s joystick, keypad and menu button layout is not ideal.

Samsung Z400

It may look like every other Samsung slider, but the new Samsung Z400 will delight fans of the D500 and D600 with its 3G speeds and new-look silver finish.

Another Samsung, another slider, another day. Perhaps the malaise emanating from Choice Towers is a bit harsh, but one look at the new Z400 and our hearts sink.

After the delicious touch-sensitive E900 and the slimline D800 we were hoping that Samsung had broken from its creative straitjacket. But for the Z400, the Korean manufacturer has reverted to type, still hawking the if it aint broke, dont fix it design ethos weve seen on umpteen Samsung sliders before the E800, D500, D600, E370, the Z320i the list goes on. Its a shame Samsung couldnt conjure up a fresh approach.

So familiarity breeds contempt? Not so fast.

Firms get Orange convergence next year

Business customers will be able to use a version of Orange's new fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) suite from the first half of next year, a spokesperson for the operator said today.

A domestic version of the device was launched in Paris on Monday. Branded as the Unique phone, the dual-mode handset operates as a standard GSM phone but can also connect via Wi-Fi to the user's home-based Livebox hub, thus routing the call through their broadband connection rather than the cellular network. According to Orange, this offers "enhanced coverage inside the house". Calls initiated while routed through the Livebox will continue to be charged at domestic fixed rates including "unlimited calls" offers even if the user moves into standard GSM coverage mid-call. Orange's spokesperson said on Monday that a "similar concept will be launching [for businesses] in the first half of next year", but declined to further specify the timescale or comment on pricing.

KRZR goes on sale Sep 16; others in Q4

Motorola today announced at a launch event that the much-anticipated KRZR K1 will be available in stores in Singapore from 16 September. The mobile phone maker also confirmed that the other upcoming handsets which includes the RIZR slider, Moto FONE, W220, RAZR V3xx and RAZR maxx will be expected in the fourth quarter of 2006. Two new Bluetooth headsets, the H670 and H800, will be introduced later this year, too.

While there is no word on whether the Moto FONE will make it to Singapore, a company representative has not ruled out the possibility of launching this basic candy-bar phone in the island state.

Built based on the trademark clamshell design of the RAZR, the quadband-enabled KRZR sports an overall smaller form factor (narrower in width but slightly longer in length) than its popular predecessor but ironically weighs a little heftier.

Suspected robber killed in PH

The source said the others with bullet wounds escaped arrest.

The source further said that one locally made pistol loaded with one cartridge, a Jinchang motorcycle 125 with registration number CQ 593 PHC and a Motorola GSM handset model C115 was recovered by the police.
