Samsung SGH-X820 review
The Samsung P300 was both innovative and successful, but now Samsung has now gone a step further and taken the lead with the Samsung SGH-X820, which at 6.9 mm is the slimmest phone in the world. I wouldn't be surprised if other manufacturers go down this path and manage to spur Samsung on to even greater achievements. You cannot believe how thin the Samsung X820 is until you have held it. Next to the slim design, Samsung has managed to boost the X820 with a 2 Megapixel digital camera, with a maximum photo resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels. I tried the Samsung SGH-X820 out for a while and will discuss its functions and characteristics in the following mobile phone review.
Samsung X820 - Slim designThe SGH-X820 balances slim elegance with a functional keypad and tops off its supreme design with a beveled cut surface for a natural grip.
Xplore M98 could be a PalmOS best-seller mobile
ASIAN COMPANY GSPDA could turn its Xplore M98 PalmOS based smartphone into a best seller, if it tweaked the design a bit and invested in proper marketing and distribution in the West.
Xplore M98 PalmOS smartphone with stylus and included 32MB Sandisk Micro-SD card
I bought this Palm OS based smartphone because I love the simplicity of the traditional Palm OS Garnet, and the high availability of third party applications of all kinds, from good games to open source databases to "voice over IP" SIP applications.
Another good selling point of the Xplore M98 is its "clamshell" format and 1.3MP camera, which actually looks more like a 640x480 CMOS sensor software -interpolated to 1.3MP, but which gives average quality images. Personally, I prefer a clamshell design over the more basic "candy bar" design and to my knowledge, the M98 is the only Palm OS based, GSM clamshell phone in the marketplace.
Firms get Orange convergence next year
Business customers will be able to use a version of Orange's new fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) suite from the first half of next year, a spokesperson for the operator said today.
A domestic version of the device was launched in Paris on Monday. Branded as the Unique phone, the dual-mode handset operates as a standard GSM phone but can also connect via Wi-Fi to the user's home-based Livebox hub, thus routing the call through their broadband connection rather than the cellular network. According to Orange, this offers "enhanced coverage inside the house". Calls initiated while routed through the Livebox will continue to be charged at domestic fixed rates including "unlimited calls" offers even if the user moves into standard GSM coverage mid-call. Orange's spokesperson said on Monday that a "similar concept will be launching [for businesses] in the first half of next year", but declined to further specify the timescale or comment on pricing.

The new 3G (third generation) network allows high-speed access to cell phones designed for the higher speed, as well as process wireless data over consumers' high-speed capable phones or on a laptop.
Cingular customers can now more quickly access e-mail, browse the internet, connect to business applications, or watch video clips while on-the- go in the Little Rock area from Below Benton to the south and up through Cabot and Conway, as well as the surrounding areas.
"People want mobile access to communications and information services wherever they are," said Larry Evans, vice president and general manager for Cingular Wireless.

France Telecom, Motorola introduce seamless mobility solution
French telco France Telecom and mobile device manufacturer Motorola have introduced Network Controlled Seamless Mobility, a solution where the network operator controls handover using IP protocols.
In this solution, the handover decision is managed with centralized information regarding radio link conditions, access networks load, application quality of service needs, user preferences, and operator policies.
Network Controlled Seamless Mobility can be experienced with a wide range of applications. The companies have performed a demonstration of the solution, in which video was streamed to the A910 Motorola handset from a remote application server, involving a seamless handover between EDGE and wi-fi.
The project is the fruit of a strategic partnership agreement signed by the two companies in January 2005.
