LG KG920
With the KG920, LG has seriously upped the ante in the UK camera phone market by delivering a model that can snap five megapixel images - at least a couple of megapixels up on its main rivals. The quality of the images the phone takes is superb too, especially on close-ups, delivering levels of colour and detail significantly beyond the shots its main rivals are capable of. Video capture is excellent, with the handset grabbing footage at 320x240 pixels at 30 frames a second. However, the phone's user interface is not very sophisticated and the control buttons on the front are tiny. It is also hard to get a decent grip on the phone and I found my fingers constantly drifting over the lens. The camera's auto focus system isn't especially reliable and there's no optical zoom as there is on the Nokia N93.

LEAKED: Motorola loves Linux - E690 PDA Phone
It looks like Motorola is making another non-RAZR, which in itself is exciting news. The E690 is a PDA/phone that runs on Linux, yes, Linux. It has standard PDA touchscreen and writing functions, as well as some decent multimedia support - including every video and audio file you could want played through two "3D surround" speakers (where you actually store the media, we don't really know). The phone also supports Bluetooth, WPA with full Internet browsing, and Office App viewing. But USB 1.1 only? That's like selling us a Cadillac without automatic windows. We know some of you Linux fans out there are probably writhing in Linux ecstasy. You can read more about Linux on mobile devices here. More blurry amateur phone porn after the jump - "no baby, these E690 shots are just for us...I promise..." – Mark Wilson

France Telecom, Motorola introduce seamless mobility solution
French telco France Telecom and mobile device manufacturer Motorola have introduced Network Controlled Seamless Mobility, a solution where the network operator controls handover using IP protocols. In this solution, the handover decision is managed with centralized information regarding radio link conditions, access networks load, application quality of service needs, user preferences, and operator policies. Network Controlled Seamless Mobility can be experienced with a wide range of applications. The companies have performed a demonstration of the solution, in which video was streamed to the A910 Motorola handset from a remote application server, involving a seamless handover between EDGE and wi-fi. The project is the fruit of a strategic partnership agreement signed by the two companies in January 2005.
France Telecom embraces convergence to boost sales
France Telecom unveiled plans on Monday to sell mobile phones that can move seamlessly between cellular and fixed-line networks, becoming the latest European telecoms operator to jump on the "convergence" bandwagon. Starting next month, customers of the operator's Orange mobile and broadband services will be able to use a mobile handset to make unlimited calls from home to landlines and Orange mobile numbers. However, users will be charged as much for calls to .
