Vodafone first network to offer its own push email solution

In what is very likely to be the start of a trend Vodafone has become the first phone network to offers its customers a push email solution. Starting from next month small business subscribers to its network, along with smartphone crazed consumers, will be pushed those all important messages in real time courtesy of a system from Visto.

Interestingly the service offers push email on a wide range of handset including both Symbian as well as Windows Mobile handsets. The full list includes the Sony Ericsson P900i, Nokia 9300, Nokia 6680, Vodafone V1620, Vodafone VPA Compact, HP hw 6510 and Motorola MPx 220. Vodafone is making it fairly cheap for consumers too with the tariff running at £12.77 per month for the service or less if a user spends more than £34 per month on voice calls.

Updated October 30th

Eten have just announced the glofiish X500 GPS PDAPhone with SiRFInstantFix AGPS, Edge and WiFi. This is Eten's second GPS PDAPhone after the G500 released earlier this year (see the full review) and it joins the ranks of the "converged" devices with the HP hw6915, the Mio A701 and the Fujitsu Loox T830, see the PDAPhone with GPS Comparison.

I had access to an early model with a non-finalized ROM for a few hours and before some more detailed testing in the coming days with a shipping model, here is an exclusive preview article with pictures and comments.

Updated 09/07 - HTC have just announced their first line of PDAs and it includes the P3300. It appears to be an interesting entry in the GPS PDAPhone market that currently includes (in order of appearance): HP hw 6515, Eten G500, Mio A701, HP hw 6915, Loox T830....

Triple-entre from BenQ-Siemens

IT HAS been a year since BenQ acquired Siemens mobile phone division, so it was only a matter of time before we would be seeing the BenQ-Siemens brand cellphones as we have on the jerseys of Real Madrid football players.

For us, that time has finally arrived as BenQ-Siemens recently launched three models here, namely the EF81 (RM1,399), E61 (RM799) and S88 (RM1,099).

According to the company, the phone models are named in a convention similar to Mercedes Benz automobiles its S-class phones are basically luxury models, while E-class models come with at least one exclusive feature that is currently unique in the cellphone market.

Thin is in

The EF81 is touted as an ultra-slim 3G phone that is forged with high-quality materials that give this clamshell an elegant finish.
