Alcatel cell phones go back to fashion roots

AFTER a year of suffering from revenue losses, the mobile phone joint venture of telecommunications equipment provider Alcatel and electronics giant TCL is back in full swing and has revamped its mobile phone business that is expected to result in the launch of new fashion phones in the next few months.

In particular, Alcatel and TCL announced its new branding strategy in the Philippines, simply called T&A, as well as the introduction of their holdings company TCT Communication Technology.

This will be followed by the launch of newly designed Alcatel phones, many of which would be co-branded with well-known fashion brands, the first of which is the French fashion magazine Elle.

T&A Country Manager Desmond Chow said the new branding strategy is expected to expand the Alcatel brand in the Philippines since it is largely popular as an entry-level to mid-level product.

VGA camera for still photos or videos

As the barrage of expensive convergence mobile devices (such as the Nokia N series) continue to flood the market, one may wonder: "Are there still mobile phones out there that are just affordable and functional?" The answer for that is a resounding 'Yes!' In fact, Nokia has come out with a range of models to satisfy this particular group looking for a functional mobile phone more than anything else. Among these new phones in the market is the 6070 – a sensible phone for practical people.Elegance in SimplicityThe Nokia 6070 exudes an extraordinary appeal despite its plain, monoblock design. Up front, users will notice the large 65K color (128x160 pixel) display of the phone, accompanied by its ample keypad. With this setup, shouldn't have a hard time reading text messages, navigating through its GUI or inputting data, providing an ideal mobile phone experience. For those familiar with the classic Nokia shouldn't have a problem navigating the 6070.

Orange 3G launch imminent

Big day for Orange tomorrow with the UK launch of its 3G service for consumers. The service wad due to be up and running earlier in the year, but problems with the handsets delayed its delivery.

Quite what Orange will major on remains to be seen. 3G for consumers seems to be a technology without a killer application. As Three has discovered person to person video calling hasn't chimed with the UK population, and unfortunately for Orange, its rivals seem have to snapped up the best sports video content.

It'll be interesting also to see which handset Orange leads with. It appears that the LG U8110 which has been a huge hit for Three, will be one of its key phones along with a model from Motorola.

Could anyone please tell me how I ca...

Could anyone please tell me how I can block the IMEI of my newly bought NOKIA 2310 GSM, which I bought on the 13th of October, this year (2006)?

Someone visited my office on Monday, October 23 2006 and thereafter the Nokia 2310 mysteriously disappeared. It is really very painful.

I understand one can check the usage history on the phone. The GSM number (my GSM number) that was first resident on the phone is 234.805.114.4446. And I was only able to use it for only 1 week and about 3 days.

I would immensely appreciate it, if you could help provide useful information on how the IMEI of the phone could be blocked.

I have the IMEI number here with me.

Thank you. .

Samsung SGH-D900 GSM Phone Review

The family of Samsung sliders have grown incredibly of late. The main development vector consists in making them slimmer with the same elements inside and the same functionality. Moreover, the company has taken a number of measures, in order to ease the pressure of internal competition on the flagship SGH-D600. So the first superslim slider SGH-D800 is equipped with just a 1.3Mp camera and lacks a memory expansion slot. The second model (SGH-D820) retained the slot, but the camera is still 1.3Mp. Only the recent E900 and 840 are equipped with an expansion slot and a 2 Mp camera, like in the D600. But even with this thrifty approach, the old flagship already served its time. Samsung has been preparing a replacement long ago.

Generations of multimedia devices from Samsung can be clearly differentiated by camera resolutions.

Nokia trims multimedia phone prices

The world's top handset maker Nokia has cut prices of several of its more advanced multimedia phones by 5 to 10 percent on average in Europe, according to retailers and a source at a big UK operator.

In Nokia's home ground, Finland, retailers have cut 20 to 30 euros (13 1/2 to 20 1/4 pounds) off the price of older models such as music phone 3250 and smartphone 6680 and also slashed prices of newer models such as N73, N71 or N93 on average by 5 to 10 percent.
