3G LG comes to 3

3's been doing a good job recently of getting some decent sized (by which we mean small) 3G phones onto its network. The LG U8120 is its latest addition, an upgraded version of LG's U8110 video mobile that comes with some additional features.

The LG8120 has had a bit of a redesign, but it's the same dimensions and weight, measuring 96 x 50 x 23mm, and weighing 126g. The memory capacity has been increased, with 32MB of space now available for storing videos, music and photos.

The VGA camera is of the rotating variety, with self-timer and light that acts as a flash indoors. A speakerphone is also included so users can make video calls without having to involve a headset.

Dialed In: Nokia Brings the Keyboard Back

Every now and then, Nokia launches a phone that flies under the radar and develops a small but loyal following. Such was the case with the company's 6800 series of phones, which included both the 6820 and 6822. Launched a few years back, these compact phones were ideal for text messaging and e-mail, thanks in large part to their flip-out keyboards--a novel concept at the time. Sure, the phones looked dorky with the keyboard flipped out (as this picture indicates), but the design was very handy.

Unfortunately, 6800 series phones are no longer available from Nokia or from carriers. But now Nokia has upgraded the series with the similarly styled, business-centric Nokia E70.

Widow's plea to trace lost phone

A DEVASTATED widow has appealed for the return of her lost mobile phone which contains the last text message from her late husband.Cabbie Barbara Paterson lost her Nokia 6210 mobile last week, in the back of a colleague's cab and thinks it may have ended up in Ilford. The phone holds the last text message from her husband Archie, who died of cancer aged 49 last year, and video footage of him.Barbara, 47, said: "I'm absolutely devastated. The message says, 'give us a ring when you get here' because he was still in hospital at the time."That and the video footage of him are so special. This has come at the worst time as well.He died on September 8 last year, so we've just got through the first anniversary."Barbara and fellow cab driver Dan Morrison were having lunch in his cab at London City Airport when the phone went missing. As the rank rapidly moved up, Barbara grabbed her things and jumped out of the cab, not realising she had left her phone behind.Dan then picked up a fare and brought them to the junction of Perrymans Farm Road and Buntingbridge Road, Newbury Park.Desperate for the safe return of the phone Barbara has pledged a 100 reward. She added: "If anyone knows anything or has it I just want it back, and if they're worried, I'll just take the phone back - no questions asked."I've got my old sim card and number and eventually my friends will call me, so I can get their numbers again, but I can never get the other stuff back and I'm desperate for it."Barbara, from Chelmsford, said the loss is difficult for her three children Sam, 21, Katie, 18 and Matthew 17.When the phone first went missing Barbara came to the area to ask around for information, but no one knew anything.
