iSync plugin update supports Nokia, Ericsson phones

Nova Media updated its iSync phone plugin to add support for new mobile phones from Nokia and Sony Ericsson. Version 3.3.7 of the plug-in features iSync support for Nokia E65 and 6300 phones as well as Sony Ericsson's V630i offering.

The iSync synchronization software from Apple matches up Address Book and iCal data between your phone and Mac. Nova Media's plugins extend the number of phones that can be used with iSync.

The plugin sells for €10 (approximately $13) and includes free updates for one year beginning with the date of purchase. iSync phone plugins require Mac OS X 10.4.7 or later and iSync 2.3 or later.

Wi-Fi Alliance Talks Phones

Can't find a Wi-Fi-based VoIP phone? Don't blame the Wi-Fi Alliance. The industry group, mainly known for testing interoperability between products using 802.11 technology, is announcing today at the 3GSM World Congress conference in Barcelona, Spain, that 92 Wi-Fi phones have been certified since 2004.

Frank Hanzlik, managing director of the Alliance, breaks down the number to 10 single-mode (Wi-Fi only) phones, those generally used in the enterprise or vertical markets, and 82 dual-mode, supporting both Wi-Fi and a cellular technology. (However, to be fair, he points out that the same phone may have been tested under many different SKUs used in different parts of the world).

"A lot of these were tested for straight-up interoperability," Hanzlik told Wi-Fi Planet.

iMate To Launch New Windows Based Phones

Mobile phone iMate, who have some of the worst service in the mobile phone market is set to launch two new Windows Mobile-based PDA phones for GSM networks. The range will also include the company's second PocketPC phone with full QWERTY keyboard.

Four Accessible Phones from Sony Ericsson

Sony Ericsson has announced four new 'candy bar' phones. Of the four, the K200 and K220 are both camera phones, whilst the K220 again and the J120 bring music into an affordable segment with integrated FM Radios, complete with headsets.

K200

The K200 is all about having a camera on your phone just when you need it. The VGA camera and photo album are immediately accessible with just one click on the dedicated button. Given that the K200 has a slideshow view and will store up to 40 images, it's easy for users to view their pictures in full screen and share them with friends.

Navigating the phone couldn't be easier either, as the menu can be set to a series of simple, single icons. To keep things hassle-free, the central navigation key is set-up to give one-click access to key features such as the phone book (which stores up to 300 contacts) and messaging menu.
