Local Roundup: Mendon runs Braves over Biggs
Hamilton High's Drew Mendon lit up Biggs for 169 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 15 carries as the Braves won a Mid-Valley League road game 55-19 Friday night. Quarterback Jeff Cavins passed for two touchdowns for the Braves (5-1, 2-0 MVL), completing 6 of 11 attempts for 67 yards. Ryan Schimke had an interception and led the charge on defense for Hamilton. Pleasant Valley 35, Shasta 0 Jordan Rodgers completed 7 of 9 passes for 199 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Vikings (3-1-1, 1-1 Eastern Athletic League) in Redding. Rodgers started the scoring with a 1-yard TD run, then connected with Mark Woodbury on a 60-yard scoring pass, and hit Vincent Anderson with a 28-yard touchdown pass for a 20-0 halftime lead. Woodbury added a 3-yard scoring run and finished with 159 yards on 17 carries

Eagles slip past Panthers
Knox Central beat Madison Southern everywhere but on the scoreboard Friday.The Eagles, after only gaining 26 yards offensively in the first half, scored 14 points in the second half to steal the victory from the Panthers.Zach McGuire connected with Daron Thomas for a 14-yard touchdown pass-and-catch with 7:54 left in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback and give Madison Southern 3-3 (2-0) a 20-19 victory.Knox Central 3-2 (0-1) scored first in the opening quarter. The Panthers took the ball 60 yards on nine plays on their first drive of the game. Cory Smith found Jordan Ellenburg in the end zone with a touchdown pass to put Knox Central up 6-0. Greg Phillips added the extra point to make the score 7-0 with 8:05 left in the first quarter.The Panthers rushed for 205 yards in the game dominating the line of scrimmage in the first half.
