Nokia 3110 Classic offers up some mid-range amenities

The basic candy bar sneaks its way up to the mid-range by featuring a 1.3-megapixel camera and a music player with FM radio.

The Nokia 3110 Classic doesn't look like anything special; in fact, it sports an ordinary black shell over its basic candy bar form factor. Given that it's a Nokia handset, we're guessing that it's not the thinnest phone in the world either (plus Samsung already snatched that title with its Ultra Edition U100).

The 3110 Classic does offer a bevy of entertainment features, which brings this handset out of entry-level and into the mid-range. The candy bar includes a 1.3-megapixel camera, a music player with FM radio and microSD memory expansion. The 3110 also serves up USB and Bluetooth transfers for songs and photos. The handset is expected to release in Europe toward the middle of the year, and retail for 150 without subsidies.

3GSM: Samsung's five mobile marvels

Samsung has unveiled an incredible 20 handsets at this year's 3GSM event in Barcelona, including five pocket-friendly mobiles.

In addition to its Ultra Edition range of slim phones and its Ultra Special range of smartphones, Samsung has somehow found the time to squeeze in five impressive looking new mobiles with the E590, E740, E830, E840 and P110. The E590 is a smart white candy bar measuring 94x42x13.5mm andfeaturing a 3 megapixel camera with autofocus, multi-format music and video support, and stereo Bluetooth. The E740 is a slider phone, measuring 97x46x16.8mm and similar in size and design to the top-selling D600 from two years back. It carries a 2 megapixel camera, multi-format music and video support and stereo Bluetooth.

Samsung E740 music phone launched

Samsung are marketing the new SGH E740 as a mid range music phone and it is packed with lots of music features including external hot keys and a music library function.

The E740 slider phone looks great in its bright red colouring and includes a 2 inch colour screen as well as a fast GPRS EDGE internet connection and 2 megapixel digital camera.

Being a music phone the Samsung E740 also has an FM radio and support for most music and video file types and Bluetooth with the new stereo music profile feature.

Samsung have also added a USB connection so you can transfer tracks easily from your PC as well as a microSD card for expandable memory.

The phone is a good size at 97x46x16.8mm - Cheapest DSL in South Africa - DS3 Bandwidth and DS3 prices for business

Sony Ericsson W610 Walkman phone announced

After announcing the much-rumored W880i, Sony Ericsson has introduced a second Walkman phone today, the Sony Ericsson W610, which is not as thin as its sibling, but just as impressive.

The Sony Ericsson W610 measures 14mm thick comes equipped with a 1.9 inch 262K TFT LCD display, 2.0 megapixel camera with auto focus, Walkman player 2.0, 512MB Memory Stick Micro (M2) included in the box, card slot, up to 25 hours of music playing time and Bluetooth Audio Streaming (A2DP).

Sony Ericsson will be launching the W610 in the second quarter of this year. And as for the price, we know nothing.
