Sony Ericsson's quartet
Sony Ericsson has delivered a quartet of new mobiles aimed at very different market segments. With under 25s in mind the company has unveiled the S600, a kind of distant cousin of the S700, which majors on multimedia features. It has a superb screen, which can go widescreen for image viewing and more importantly gaming. It also features a 1.3 mega pixel camera and an MP3 player. Also unveiled this week was Sony Ericsson's latest 3G handset. The K608 sports an upright design that the company claims is roughly the same size and weight as GPRS phones. It has a 1.3 mega pixel camera, a large 1.8inch 262k colour screen and push email facilities. Sony Ericsson also debuted the Z520, a compact clamshell aimed at young women (you can read more about this on Shiny) and the entry-level J210.
First Impressions of Samsung's i320 Smartphone
I've been less than happy with my i-mate SP5m for a while now. It's thick, it's slow, the joystick is fragile beyond belief, and it just doesn't feel that good in your hand. Certainly not as nice as the HTC Typhoon did. So I've been looking closely at all the different QWERTY smartphone devices because I wanted to increase my mobile messaging from just reading and the odd reply to more full on email access. My decision was made considerably easier during the recent Mobius Boston event as we were all given a brand new Samsung SGH-i320 Smartphone. I've been using this phone for almost a week now and I have to say that Samsung did a really nice job on this phone with one exception: battery life. The size of the phone is simply incredible, and the extras that Samsung baked into the OS are really well thought out.
Nokia 6131
With so many phones saturating the market, youve got to have the X-factor to stand out. Does the Nokia 6131 possess the flair to thrive? Nokia and the clamshell have always endured an uneasy relationship. The Finnish giant has never really flourished with the flip phone approach, instead gaining considerably more success with the candybar and slider forms. With perhaps the exception of the furry fashionista, the 7200, past clamshell efforts like the ergonomically challenged 6260 and the staid but functional 6101 havent really set the world alight. So were always intrigued, and also a little wary, when Nokia marches out another flip phone. Thankfully, its latest flame, the mid-range 6131, sees the manufacturer getting it right at last. The 6131 sports some curious design features that makes for an attractive phone.

Nokia Turns Up the Soundtrack For 5500 Sport
Following the precedent it set with the recent introduction of the audio-enhanced versions of its N91, N73 and N70 smartphones, Nokia today announced a Music Edition of its ruggedized exercise cell phone, the 5500 Sport. The 5500 Sport joins Nokia's XpressMusic brand as well, which also includes the recently unveiled 5200, 5300 and 3250. The 5500 Sport Music Edition, available in a new copper-red color scheme, bundles a 512 MB microSD card, in addition to a fitness carrying strap for the arm or waist, bicycle holder and sports headset. Although you can buy microSD cards up to 2 GBs in size today, it appears the maximum capacity the 5500 Sport will allow is 1 GB. Nokia also added its Music Manager application for transferring audio files from your PC to the cell phone. All of these are smart additions for a music/fitness-orientated handset, and a bit of no brainier for a sports phone.
Bang & Olufsen and Samsung's stylish phone
Bang & Olufsen have released a stylish cell phone, powered by Samsung, costing a whopping $1,275. The cell phone is called Serene and it is promoted more like a companion rather than an expensive phone. The makers of chic, high range stereos, televisions and cordless phones, Bang & Olufsen, have lend a lot of their sophistication and finesse to this new phone and in collaboration with cell phone veterans Samsung have developed a truly different cell phone. Rumors have been abuzz for a while about Apple releasing its first cell phone but nothing has been so far. So what one gets instead is Serene which has many iPODish qualities and features completely different from a conventional cell phone. .
